Differing views shouldn’t divide people

August 11, 2022

It has become too common for people to hate and show unkindness to those who disagree with them. There was a time when those who disagreed with each other would be patient and allow time for thought and freedom to hold a differing view.

We do not have to agree with each other to be kind and respectful but friendships have ended and families have been torn apart by the pain resulting from despising and hating each other. We can hold firmly to our convictions without being unkind.

Kindness matters.

Jesus loved and gave His life even for those who hated Him. He said “By this shall all men know you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.”

The Bible defines love in these terms: “Love is patient, love is kind,…it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 1 Cor. 13:4a, 5
