CORRECTION

September 15, 2022

DAYTON–County Treasurer Carla Rowe issued a correction to the September 1 article, “Finding Qualified applicants proving difficult” where it stated that there is $950,000 left in current expense and there will be tax payments estimated to be $2 million received in October. She noted that “current expense doesn’t even receive $2 million in tax payments annually. What is left on the books to collect for 2022 is $829,403.35. As I reported at the department director meeting earlier in the month, we are just over 50% with our tax collection. As for the balance of $950,000 in current expense, we actually have more than that currently, but I believe perhaps it was a projection that there would be $950,000 as a balance at the end of the year. Because I don’t know the expenses upcoming, but there has been some savings is the payroll area, perhaps this amount is possible. Normally, we are more in the range of $600,000, but the last two years we have had over $1 million as an ending balance for the year.”
