Lady Wolfpack drops a pair

DAYTON–The Lady Wolfpack Volleyball team are now 1-4 in EWAC league play after sustaining a loss to the Columbia-Burbank Lady Coyotes on their Homecoming court last week, in four sets.

DW hosted Warden last Tuesday and the Lady Irish of DeSales will play a Saturday non-league match here, first serve at 11:30 a.m., as the season slides into the home stretch.

The Lady Coyotes won the final three sets after losing 25-21 to DW in the opening set, finishing with a nail-biting 24-26 win, then riding a few-point margin in the final two sets, 22-25 and 15-25.

"Both teams were evenly matched," Head Coach Tracy Barron commented. "Our girls played hard and really improved in their hit and block coverage from our previous games."

Despite Columbia Burbank attacking more in the later stages of the match, several DW players tallied some impressive stats. Makenna Barron nailed 14 kills and had five blocks. She made six assists and three digs.

Not far behind was Elsie Mann with a dozen kills and four blocks, a dig and five ace serves. Kylee Henry had 29 assists, six kills and two aces.

The Lady Wolfpack visited TriCity Prep on September 20, and were mauled in three sets, 8-25, 4-25, 18-25.

"The team worked together tonight to get better with each set," Coach Barron noted. "They made adjustments with each play and never stopped trying."

Makenna Barron again led in the kill department with six, and Mann and Peyton Struckmeier each notched four. Barron blocked a pair and Mann and Struckmeier each had one block.
