Pastor's Corner

We face uncertain times. Our world is plagued with problems, just as Jesus said it would be. The violence in our streets and the division we face in our country can be a source of worry or fear that leads to discouragement and even despair. We may be experiencing personal economic hardship we have not experienced before.

In this very setting the Lord calls us away from fear to faith in Him. Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Mt. 11:28.

We are promised "Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts you double-minded. Grieve, mourn, and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up" James 4:8-10.

If we turn to the Lord and if we are truly sorry for our sins, grieving and mourning over what we have done, God will bless our humility and honesty by lifting us up. He restores our joy. He assures and comforts our hearts. Belonging to Him we are cared for and precious in His sight. The rest He offers dispels our doubts and fears even when we are in the midst of our troubles.

He guides us along the path that lies before us and assures us that nothing can separate us from His love and care. He will do these things for each of us when we give ourselves fully to Him, trusting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and Lord.
