DW Lady Wolfpack season closes tonight

The 2022 Dayton-Waitsburg Lady Wolfpack Volleyball Team finished the season 3-11. From left to right: Asst. DAYTON–The 2022 volleyball campaign will draw to a close for the young Dayton-Waitsburg Lady Wolfpack Volleyball team tonight at Liberty Christian's Richland court.

The team will finish the season with a non-league match after finishing league play 0-10 and with a 3-10 season record.

The Lady Wolfpack visited Warden on October 20 and lost in three sets, 16-25, 15-25, 15-25.

Elsie Mann sparked the effort with six kills and four blocks at the net, plus one dig. Makenna Barron managed to hammer four kills, rejected one Warden would-be kill and made four assists.

"The team really struggled this game after the long bus ride," Head Coach Tracy Barron said. "By the third set, the team was back to working together and having fun playing the game."

The loss finished up Eastern Washington Athletic Conference – East league play for the season.

Dayton-Waitsburg visited Columbia-Burbank on October 18 and fought an evenly matched Lady Coyote squad, losing in the fifth set by two points, 13-25, 26-24, 16-25, 25-23, 13-15

"This was such a fun game to watch," Coach Barron noted. "The teams were very evenly matched. The girls continue to gel and play better together each game."

Top performers in the five-set battle were Mann, Barron, Peyton Struckmeier and Kylee Henry.

Mann pounded eight kills and had four blocks at the net. She aced five serves, contributed two digs and added one assist.

Barron was also prolific at the net, firing six kills and blocking six attacks by the Lady Coyotes. She made 10 assist and five digs.

Struckmeier was another Lady Wolfpack player who was tough in the trenches, whamming four kills and making four blocks. Struckmeier counted a pair of aces during her serves.

Henry was the top in assists with 12. She had two digs and one block and during serving, made two ace serves.
