Erma Hamilton

May 26, 1937–November 15, 2022

Erma was born in Dayton Wash., to Jack and Carrie Whitney on May 26 of 1937. She had three elder brothers; Everett, LeRoy and Lavern Whitney and one sister, Kay Brown.

As a youth, Erma was actively involved in her church. She spoke often about working at Dayton Hospital as a Candy Striper. She graduated from Dayton High School in 1955. She met Harold Dean Hamilton of Walla Walla, Wash., after she graduated from high school. They married November 24, 1956 and remained married until Harold's passing May 13, 2018.

Erma's first priority was always her family. She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed yard work and her flowers. She was known to be a hard worker rising before the sun and working at something until she closed her eyes.

Erma is survived by her sister, Kay Brown of Dayton, Wash., her children Michael Hamilton, Susan Hawley and Kari Key of Milton Freewater and Tracy Hamilton of Walla Walla; nine grandchildren and 19 Great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Munselle Rhodes Funeral Home 902 S. Main St. Milton Freewater on November 27 at 1p.m. A reception will follow at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 325 SW 6th. Ave. Milton Freewater, Ore.
