COWICHE–The Lady Wolfpack defeated Highland 39-21, marking the program's first win in a couple years in over two years. The team is now 1-3 heading into a break for the Christmas Holiday, with a December 29 game set at Pomeroy prior to the new year.
"This is the first win in over two years for the Wolfpack girls," said Head Coach Dirk Hansen. "The losing streak has come to an end!
"The girls are continuing to improve defensively as we look forward to the second half of the season coming up," Hansen said.
Peyton Benavides paced the Lady Wolfpack scorers with 11 points, and Makenna Barron popped in 10 points.
The Lady Wolfpack fell to TriCities Prep Lady Jaguars 50-11 on Dec. 13 in Pasco.
"This is the third game where we played with six or less players," Hansen said. "We hope to get a few girls back from injury after the break."
Senior forward Claudia Benavides is out with injuries, as is junior Teagan Culley and Hannah Peralez, an eight grader playing up.
"We will more than likely have only six or seven for Highland," Hansen said.
"The team is improving defensively and we should be more competitive once we get our injured players back," he said.
