Wanda Kay (Want) Gates,75, was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo.

She was born to Eldred James and Rachel Ellen (Moon) Want on Friday, October 10, 1947 in Walla Walla, Wash. She was raised and schooled in Dayton, Wash, where she graduated high school. Wanda went on to cosmetology school where she earned her cosmetology license. She spent most of years working in various salons until she was able to open her own in Douglas, Wyo. She was also a very devout Christian and church attendee.

Wanda was first married to Rufus Edward Vines with whom she had three sons, Jack, Don, and Dan. She later was married to Richard Duane Gates with whom she raised both of their children and spent the rest of her life with mainly in Douglas, Wyo. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Eldred, on March 14, 1999; mother, Ellen, on January 15, 2008; son, Jack Vines, on June 12, 2022 and siblings, Don Want, on November 6, 2013, Sally Geiger on November 30, 2021, and Linda Hissong on July 13, 2018.

She is survived by her husband of over 44 years, Richard Gates, of Douglas, Wyoming; sons, Don Vines of Moore, Ok., and Dan Vines of Douglas, Wyo .; sisters, Marjorie Lowe of Dayton, Virginia Smith of Dayton, and Valerie Powers of Walla Walla; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Baptist Church at 1424 Griffith Way at 4 p.m., on Thursday, December 29, 2022; with Pastor Ed Rafferty officiating. Any donations or flowers can be sent to Trinity Baptist Church.

The Gorman Funeral Homes–Converse Chapel of Douglas, Wyo., is in charge of the arrangements.
