"We are not moving," emphasized Les Teel, CEO of Columbia Rural Electric Association. As the local energy cooperative expands operations in Walla Walla County, and plans to relocate the warehouse and engineering departments there, questions have risen as to whether Columbia REA will continue to conduct business in Dayton. "The board has taken a strong position. We are not moving," Teel assured.

A group of about 20 concerned local citizens met at the Dayton Historic Depot, to discuss economic development in Columbia County. Those present represented the City of Dayton, Columbia County, the Task Force, the Port of Columbia, the Chamber of Commerce, the group working with the Sirolli Institute, and the community at large.
