January 19, 2023

DAYTON–Law Enforcement Awareness Day was observed on Monday, January 9. To commemorate this event, the Dayton High School (DHS) Associated Student Body (ASB) was asked to pass out Thin Blue Line to students on campus before school. The Thin Blue Line resembles the line that keeps society from descending to violent chaos. Many students have made personal connections with deputies who have spent their days here at the Dayton School District. Students and staff are grateful for the impact law enforcement has had on students here.

In other school news, the DW Wolfpack Middle School combine team spilt before the basketball season. Dayton Middle School basketball team will practice and play as the Dayton Bullpups. The first practice took place on January 4 and their first home game will be on January 26 against DeSales. The Dayton Middle School Wrestling program will start practice on January 9.

In addition, Dayton FFA chapter volunteers and advisors have been working hard at the concessions during the Dayton-Waitsburg (DW) Wolfpack High School basketball home games in Dayton. Chapter members from middle school and high school put in their time to work at the concessions as an FFA fundraiser to raise “Most Involved Member” points toward an award at the end of the year. Concessions have helped Dayton FFA practice skills such as creating, customer service, teamwork, and money managing. The funds from this fundraiser will be used towards going to Washington State FFA Convention in May.
