Fall Sports Awards presented

WAITSBURG–The 2022 Dayton-Waitsburg Fall Sports Awards were presented at a banquet January 9 at Waitsburg High School.

Athletes from the DW Combine football, volleyball and cheer programs were recognized.

Volleyball teammates voted on three awards, choosing Mireya Alvarez Valino as Most Improved, Elsie Mann as Most Inspirational and Makenna Barron as Most Valuable Player, announced Coach Tracy Barron. Coach's Awards went to Alyssa Seagraves and Karissa Potts.

Volleyball Scholar-Athlete were Barron, Madison Kaehler, Mann, Potts and Segraves.

Volleyball varsity letters were presented to Barron, Kaehler, Mann, Potts, Seagraves, Kylee Henry, Emma Hays, Kaylie Wellsandt, Alvarez Valino, Peyton Struckmeier and Jessika Lambert.

Awards to stand-out players, varsity letters and All-League recognition were spread among the players.

Head Coach Troy Larsen presented Wolfpack Player of the Year to quarterback Monte Pettichord. Pettichord was also Honorable Mention for the quarterback position in the EWAC East All-League lists.

Offensive Players of the Year was presented to Spencer Hansen and Hudson Reser by Dirk Hansen, Assistant Coach. Defensive Player of the Year went to Kaylub Prather, presented by Assistant Coach Gabe Kiefel.

Special Teams Player of the Year was Levi Boudrieau, Lineman of the Year honors went to Blake French, and Scout Team Player of the Year was Lucas VanHoose.

Three Wolfpack players made the First All-League team: Blake French was named to the First Team for his prowess on the defensive line, and he was a Second Team O-line selection. Kaylub Prather was a standout linebacker, named to the First Team Defense. Monte Pettichord, at defensive back, was a First Team selection.

Second-Team All-League recipients include Hudson Reser, running back; Spencer Hanson wide receiver and defensive back, and Reuben Yutzy, offensive line.

Varsity letters: Spencer Hansen, Kason Fortune, Koyen Fortune, Hudson Reser, Monte Pettichord, Daylan Marlow, Cyson Morris, Lucas VanHoose, Cougar Anderson, Isaias Reyes, Preston Hansen, Jackson Karl, Levi Boudrieau, Jayce Gleason, Kaylub Prather, Blake French, Garrett Palmer, Brenton Seagraves, Rueben Yutzy and Jarod Hankins.

Larsen also announced his retirement from the position of head football coach after 23 years.
