Pastor's Corner

He didn't simply risk it all...

March 16, 2023

Living where we do, we often hear the helicopter ambulance struggling to land at the hospital, in an attempt to transport someone in critical condition. The roaring sound of the helicopter motor fighting the wind and the risky, repeated attempts the pilot makes to land speaks of his or her determination to help save that one life.

Some of us have witnessed the meticulous, rapid efficiency of the highly trained helicopter medical staff as they quickly enter the patient's room, confer with the doctor, switch over the patient's medical devices and transfer the patient safely into the helicopter.

They are determined to help save that one life. Every move is practiced and deliberate.

Such feats are practical examples of the Lord's love to save each-and-every person. Every individual matter to Him.

Jesus stopped the moving crowd to care for the blind beggar by the roadside. On the cross He gave His attention to the thief dying next to Him, though He was deeply suffering Himself. He cared for the woman taken in the very act of adultery.

God cares for you. He gave His own Son to offer every person forgiveness and transformation through the saving love of the cross.

The Bible says, "To us the greatest demonstration of God's love for us has been His sending His only Son into the world to give us life through Him. We see real love, not in the fact that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to make personal atonement for our sins." 1 Jn. 4:9-10. Jesus personally tasted and drank the cup of death for each of us. He didn't simply risk it all. He gave His all, dying the death that should have been ours. Since God has so loved us, surely, we must love one another. He invites us into a loving and personal relationship with Him
