Wolfpack sprinters Hudson Reser and Teegan Kenney both competed in the 200 m. dash, Kenney finishing with a personal best of 26.56 for 13th place and Reser landing in 23rd place with a time of 27.46.

KENNEWICK–It is still early in the track and field season, with the vagaries of weather and inexperience, for some, playing a role, but Dayton-Waitsburg Track and Field participated in a five-way meet here March 16, mostly against much larger schools.

The Asotin Invitational was March 21 and the College Place Hawk Invite is coming up March 25.

"This was another meet with little DW against four or five big schools," commented Head Coach Dan Nechodom, noting that some of the team's newest members might be intimidated by the number of people and size of the meet, "it's an excellent opportunity to watch and learn."

Alyssa Hollingworth, Hudson Reser, Teegan Kenney, Vaughn Walter and Reuben Yutzy have broken into the top 10 in the EWAC league rankings for at least one of their events.

For Walter, his technique continues to garner comments on how "smooth" his form is. He finished 11th with a 5-0 mark.

"We'd not been able to get our high jump equipment out yet," Nechodom said, "so Vaughn Walter's third jump of the season was his 5' 0" opening height. I heard more than one competitor comment on his smooth jumping form."

Several athletes had recently become eligible and had never been in a track meet before, Nechodom noted, and nervous and jittery quickly gave way to confidence after an event or two.

Teams competing included Hermiston, Kennewick, Prosser and Walla Walla High School.

At the meet, Miriam Hutchens, competing for Wa-Hi, finished 11th in the 100m in 14:30, second in the 800m in 2:32:10, ran the third leg of the 4X400 Relay, which finished second in 4:34.73.
