WALLA WALLA–Dayton-Waitsburg's hit the links for two challenging matches, shooting nine holes at Wine Valley on March 22 and playing the Country Club the next day.

"We only had three of our golfers this week," said Head Coach Mike McGhan, "but the rest should be ready to go by next week. We are very inexperienced-Carson Potter has played in Dayton a few times but never in a competitive match. William Daves and Sarah Daves have been playing golf for about two weeks."

At Wine Valley, Potter scored 61, William Daves and Sarah Daves both shot a 76. The following day, Potter carded a 64, Sarah Daves 74 and William Daves a 78.

"I was pleased with the kids during both matches," McGhan said. "Sarah improved her score on Thursday by keeping the ball out of trouble. William is working on consistency but his effort through both matches was commendable.

"Carson has the potential to be one of our top golfers in recent history," he said. "He is smart and plays with a plan. Consistent execution of his shots will come with practice and experience. On Wednesday his chipping, normally a strength, was challenged by Wine Valley's fast greens."
