Pastor's Corner

The grandson had just heard his grandpa call his grandma a "back seat driver" even though she was sitting in the front passenger seat. The grandfather explained to him that he meant his wife was trying to control his driving. He even pointed out the worn foot mat under her feet where she was continually applying invisible brakes.

It's not easy to give up control to someone else–especially when we don't trust them. A mother was tormented with the thought that her very sick child might die. Even though she continued to ask for healing, it was after she surrendered her son in faith to the Lord that two things happened: the Lord gave her an immediate peace and her son got well.

We have specific requests and desires but because we know the Lord loves us we have given Him complete control. He always works for our best interests, even in methods that are beyond our understanding. The Bible says, "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all-how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?" Ro. 8:31-32

God loves us. He promises to work all things together for good to those that love Him. The Lord takes the most disappointing circumstances to make beautiful outcomes in the life of His child.
