DAYTON–High School (DHS) students were getting excited about the one-hundred-year anniversary of their school last week and the upcoming Prom.
Present day DHS students participated in activities to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Pietrzycki High School throughout the day Thursday, April 19. Some of the activities the Senior High and Middle school students participated in were a scavenger hunt, cake, and fun games in the gym with the Walla Walla DJ. They ended the day with some line dancing.
After school, the building was open to the public with many activities for families to participate in like the play put on by the Middle School Drama class. It was overall an exciting day and enjoyable for the community. The elementary students joined in with some fun outside games of their own.
The DHS Associated Student Body (ASB) has been working on the 2023-24 elections and Prom/Spring Spirit Week for April 24-28. Activities begin on Monday, April 24 with dress-up day, which will be "Make it Lazy Monday" (PJ Day) and there will be class meetings during first period with donuts provided by the ASB. The dress-up day on Tuesday, April 25, is "Rhyming Duo Day" and there will be a Gamesbeasts tournament in the auditorium. There will also be SATs that morning.
On Wednesday, April 26, the dress-up day is "Adam Sandler Wednesday" (The baggier the better) and there will be Disney movies playing first through second period with the option of Disney coloring pages. Thursday, April 27 dress-up day will be "Disney Day", and there will be class meetings throughout the day to practice the Lipsync that will take place during seventh period in the auditorium.
The final day on Friday, April 28, dress-up day is "Bulldog Pride" and the ASB will be holding karaoke in the commons before school as well as a Pep Rally before lunch.
Prom week will then end with the Dayton-Waitsburg combined dance with the theme "Through the Looking Glass" inspired by Alice in Wonderland. It will be in the Waitsburg High School Cage from 8-12 p.m. Tickets are available at both high schools.
