DAYTON–The Sherwood Trust Foundation awarded All Saints Thrift Store $45,000 grant on April 27.

All Saints Thrift Store pursued grant funding through Sherwood Trust to purchase a multi-purpose store truck, but primarily for handling large donations and to haul bags of recycled clothing and linens unfit for sale.

All Saints Thrift Store Manager Bob Patras worked with his wife and fellow board member Joann Patras, on applying for $35,000, with help from Port of Columbia Executive Director Jennie Dickinson. "We could not have done it without her," said Patras.

Several representatives from Sherwood Trust came to the store on April 27 to present the check. Former President Chuck Fulton handed it to Bob Patras with a warning they could not give the amount they asked. When the check was pulled from the envelope, Bob Patras saw the printed figure of $45,000. The representatives commended the work the store is doing in the community, and said they were so impressed, they wanted to give more than what was requested.

Bob Patras has since purchased a multi-purpose truck. He sought input from staff and volunteers on the best use of the extra funds which was for plumbing and wiring for a much-needed washer and dryer. Dirty donated items are an issue, and this will minimize having to recycle unsaleable items.
