DW Fast-pitch plays tie-breaker against TCP here Friday

DAYTON–With a pair of league doubleheaders to play in the regular season, the Dayton-Waitsburg Lady Wolfpack Fast-pitch team is tied with TriCities Prep with 1-3 league records, and that question will be decided here Friday when the two teams meet for their next-to-last twin bill. The action starts at 3 p.m. Friday, May 5 at the Dayton softball fields. The Lady Wolfpack is 5-7 overall.

Warden is undefeated in league play at 6-0 to hold first, with River View in second at 3-1 and DW and TCP tied at 1-3. Columbia is in fifth place with a 1-5 record.

The season finale is a doubleheader at Columbia-Burbank on Friday, May 12, also beginning at 3 p.m.

Dayton-Waitsburg split a double header against Riverview on April 28, falling in the first game 13-3 then winning the other game 19-14.

DW pounced on the Panthers with nine runs in the first two innings for a 9-2 lead and added another five runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to hold the Lady Panthers at bay. Wolfpack bats were alive with 14 hits.

In the second game, River View held DW to just three runs while jetting to an 8-2 lead after three innings, then putting in the final nail with five runs in the bottom of the fifth for the mercy-rule win. The team struggled at the plate with just two hits, and committed eight errors.

Colton visited April 18 for a non-league contest, heading away with a 20-13 win on 13 hits and in spite of nine errors.

The Lady Wolfpack rallied to lead 5-4 in the second inning, but the Lady Wildcats garnered six runs in their next at-bat and stayed out of reach with five runs in the sixth and four in the seventh.
