POMEROY–To create a safe environment for youths, the Pomeroy Partners Coalition have a new initiative to build a drug-, alcohol-, and other hazards-free space for young people in which to grow and thrive.

The Pomeroy Safe Homes Pledge is a new initiative from the Pomeroy Partners Coalition to create a safe environment for youth. Households which take the Safe Homes Pledge will be mailed a window cling for their home, a fridge magnet, a certificate, as well as optional free gun locks, sharps containers, Mr. Yuk stickers, or a prescription drug lock box. Pomeroy is a caring community where adults agree it is our job to keep kids safe. The public is urged to join by taking the pledge to create safe environments for our youths.

The pledge:

"I acknowledge that early exposure to substances primes the brain for addiction. Therefore, I pledge to create a safe home for all people, where alcohol and medications are securely stored. I pledge to never serve or provide alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, vaping products, or other substances, to anyone under the age of 21 in my home."
