July 13, 2023

DAYTON–This is Bulldog Territory and graduates of Pietrzycki High School will converge on town for Alumni Weekend's float making, parade, annual meeting and class get-togethers Friday and Saturday.

Individual class banquets are set at various locations around Dayton. The Alumni Association reports classes of 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1976, 1978, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993 and 2013 are planning float-making and Saturday evening gatherings.

It should be a toasty weekend: Friday and Saturday temperatures are anticipated to be in the mid to upper 90s with clear skies.

Parade Marshals for Saturday's 10 a.m. parade will be Janice Hall Davis, Class of 1952, and Betty Eaton Keller, Class of 1953. (See accompanying story, page 2).

On Friday afternoon and evening, alumni will converge on Dayton to reunite for the first time, enjoy camaraderie, work on the float, and reminisce and relive some of one's fondest high-school memories.

Come Saturday morning, floats are to congregate behind the gym on 2nd Street to line up for the parade. Float judging begins at 9 a.m. and at 9:45 the procession will begin.

The Alumni Parade is planned to give parade watchers on both sides of Main Street the opportunity to see both sides of each float. It will enter Main Street at 2nd Street, turning right (eastbound) to 4th. There the parade will make a U-turn and continue westbound on Main Street until turning right on North 1st Street then do a turn-around behind Dingle's of Dayton. Out of the lot behind Dingle's, back onto Main Street, taking a right on South 2nd Street, back to the gym parking lot.

The organization's Annual Meeting will be in the Depot Courtyard, starting at 11 a.m. Float winners and the Fifty-Fifty Drawing winner will be announced. The Alumni Association encourages classes to compete with one another in the Fifty-Fifty Drawing, all of which supports scholarships.

The Pietrzycki High School building will be open for self-guided tours from 1-3 p.m.
