DAYTON–Columbia County Fire District 3 responded to an equipment-caused field fire just west of the Lewis and Clark Trail State Park last Saturday, assisting District No. 2 from Waitsburg in quickly extinguishing the fire, which burned about an acre of stubble and very little standing grain, Jeromy Phinney, chief of District 3, said. The timely response kept the flames from jumping to surrounding standing grain.
