Swim the Snake hosts 37 competitors

STARBUCK–The Tenth Annual Swim the Snake noncompetitive swimming and paddle boarding event splashed off over the weekend on August 12.

The Swim the Snake was participated in by 37 swimmers and six paddle boarders at Lyons Ferry State Park and Lyons Ferry KOA Marina. Contestants gathered at the shore located at Lyons Ferry Park to swim the 0.7-mile stretch of Lake Sacajawea after paddle boarders arrived from the KOA Marina. At the finish, competitors enjoyed a slice of watermelon, a bottle of water, and received a 2023 Swim the Snake T-shirt. Pictures and memories were made that day for many.

Swim the Snake organizer Lisa Naylor of Dayton, was honored during the volunteer luncheon by Joy Marie Smith, Blue Mountain RC&D CEO, for her creation and stewardship of the event. Naylor made the decision to step out as Swim the Snake organizer. The Board of the RC&D is presently seeking a volunteer to take on the Annual Swim the Snake, which fundraises for the RC&D, local youth swim teams and local Parks and Rec organizations.
