DAYTON-The Senior Class or 2024 will attend their last first day of school August 28, with many more final high school moments throughout the year. In addition, senior Wyntr McCauley accepts membership in the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).

Summer break is coming to an end, and students are getting ready to go back to school. Last year's Juniors are this year's Seniors and come August 28, it will be the Class of 2024's last first day of school in Dayton High School. That day is pretty special for seniors, so class advisor Kristie Korslund has decided to make a "Senior Moms" group chat to plan events throughout the year including a "Senior Sunrise."

During the first day of school, Seniors will all gather at the Dayton Football Field during sunrise. There will be breakfast and coffee provided. The Seniors can then enjoy the sunrise on their last first day of school with some music, a photo booth, classmates, and breakfast to celebrate the upcoming year as they finish high school. Some Seniors have decided to create their own "Senior Pants" to wear on the first day back. These pants are painted and styled by the Senior student to show that they are a Senior and to wear during Spirit Weeks, events, and home games. Some have also purchased a children's backpack to wear for their last school year. This is a tradition that has been trending on social media for the past few years. This tradition is used as a way to reminisce on their childhood before entering adulthood. This event is a great way to bond with your classmates and get excited about school.

Wyntr McCauley was offered a membership the NSHSS, and she accepted. The NSHSS is a program which recognizes the highest achieving high school scholars and the services they provide to their community. As a member, the program offers resources to help transition from high school to higher education opportunities. McCauley has received her certificate, pin, and honors cords she will wear during commencement.
