Phyllis Schreck

1951–October 20, 2023

Phyllis Schreck, 72, of Walla Walla, Wash., passed away surrounded by her loved ones on October 20, 2023.

She was born in County Tipperary, Ireland, to John and Ellen Bowe. They immigrated to Walla Walla when Phyllis was ten years old. She graduated from DeSales High School in 1970, followed by two years of business college in Yakima, Wash.

In her youth, she held positions as a ticket and reservations agent at United Airlines and Cascade Airlines. In the mid-70s Phyllis crossed paths with Steve Schreck through his cousin. They tied the knot in Walla Walla and cherished a blissful 43-year marriage, raising two daughters. For over three decades, the family farmed the W.W. Day Estate in Dayton, Wash. As Steve neared retirement, the couple moved to Walla Walla in 2011.

Phyllis was actively involved and spent many hours volunteering in the communities she lived in. Some of the organizations she was an active member or volunteer of included the Whetstone Club, P.E.O chapters in Dayton and Walla Walla, the Dayton Historical Depot Society, Project Timothy Charity and Aid in Dayton, Light Ministry and Birthright in Walla Walla. She found happiness in life through preparing delectable dishes and enjoying them with loved ones and friends, dancing, and joking around with friends.
