Volunteers from the community turned out last weekend to gather and prepare for delivery boxes of groceries for members of the community, part of Project Timothy's annual Christmas Basket giveaway. The success of this project is thanks to widespread support from the community, including the Kiwanis Club, Dayton Mercantile and others, especially those who turned out to help with the gathering, boxing and delivery of the specially wrapped packages.

DAYTON–Project Timothy held its annual Christmas Basket giveaway Saturday, December 9, spreading joy and warmth to families in need.

The community came together in a heartwarming display of generosity to distribute 75 boxes of groceries to those who had signed up for assistance. The boxes included canned fruits and vegetables, whole or half ham (depending on size of the family), stuffing mix, rolls and butter, pumpkin pie, cool whip, 10 pound sack of potatoes, and gravy mix.

Project Timothy has continued their basket giveaway for many years with much help from private donations and the previous year's Fall Giving Guide donations. Support for Project Timothy through-out the year with monthly donations, the Fall Giving Guide contribution, Blue Mountain Community Foundation, The Warren Grant, Dayton/Columbia County Fund, and the Innovia Foundation are greatly appreciated. All these entities and individuals make the important work that Project Timothy provides possible.

The success of this event would not have been possible without the unwavering support of community members. Especially the Dayton Kiwanis' Club who helped transport all the food from Dayton Mercantile and assisted in filling the boxes. They stayed throughout the day helping with the overall distribution. Their commitment to service in our community has been invaluable. There were so many community members who helped wrap the boxes with Christmas paper and those who showed up to fill and distribute the boxes. We appreciate all their support.

The Public Transportation provided a van and driver, Mark who through his enthusiasm and dedication made the distribution process to those who were unable to pick up their boxes. Mark's commitment to spreading holiday cheer was truly contagious, adding an extra layer of warmth to the event.

Dayton Mercantile generously supplied grocery items at a discount at only 10% over cost. Their support highlights the importance of local businesses contributing to the well-being of the community, especially during the holiday season.

It is our pleasure to acknowledge all those who contributed in any way to making Project Timothy's Christmas basket program and our work throughout the year a success. Sharing your time and your support demonstrates the true spirit of Christmas.

May the warmth and generosity experienced during this event continue to resonate throughout our community, reminding all of us the joy we experience, when lending a helping hand to those around us.
