ROSALIAؘ–After putting the first W on their schedule with a 49-46 non-league win over the Touchet Redhawks last week, the Bulldogs suffered a stinging 75-36 loss to Tekoa-Rosalia here Friday, December 22, prior to breaking for Christmas.

Dayton resumes the season on January 5 at Palouse against the Gar-Pal Vikings, then faces visiting Oakesdale Saturday, January 6.

The Dawgs are 0-4 in league, 1-7 overall. Pomeroy leads the league with 5-0 league and 6-1 season record.

Touchet came to town December 19 and the Bulldogs pulled together for a 12-8 first-quarter lead. The Redhawks reciprocated with a 13-8 second quarter and a one-point lead at half time, 21-20.

"It was an exciting win for the boys to come back from 10 down in the third quarter," said Head Coach Clayton Strong. "It was quite a gut check for us and every boy, regardless of if they were in uniform or not, contributed to the win.

"The crowd was also awesome down the stretch and helped get us to the finish line," Strong said.

Denver Hutchens scored a team-high 19 points, snared nine rebounds and had four assists, turnovers, steals and blocked shots. Carson Potter sank two baskets and two free throws in the third quarter and drained a trey in the fourth quarter, plus grabbed five boards. Colton Steinhoff chipped in eight points and six rebounds.

At Rosalia, the Bulldogs couldn't adequately cover Isaac Bone whose 45 points energized the Timberwolves 75-36 win.

"The final score Friday didn't reflect all of the good things we saw," Strong commented. "We made their best player really work to get his points and while we can still be better with our help defense it was the best we had done all year."

Strong was also impressed with the Bulldogs' efforts to limit offensive rebounds in the later parts of the game.

"We continue to see constant improvement and the boys keep playing hard," Strong said.

Hutchens again led the team in scoring with 24 points, six rebounds three steals, three blocked shots and two assists. T-R's defense pretty much shut down other teammates. Jordan McCowen scored seven with a pair of threes in the second half and a first-quarter free throw.
