DAYTON–The Bulldogs battled a tough St. John/Endicott/LaCrosse team, suffering through several single-digit quarters to sustain a 67-21 loss last weekend after registering a victory over Prescott by 57-39.

In the Prescott contest, the Bulldogs lost their 6-1 sophomore Colton Steinhoff with an injured wrist.

Dayton wraps the regular season with home games against Colton, Gar-Pal and Tekoa-Rosalia.

"Saturday was a tough one given we thought going in we would be able to compete," commented Hech Coach Clayton Strong, "especially after we were competitive with them at their place. We just had too many things that we just didn't do well and once they got rolling, they hit a bunch of shots.

"One thing we did do well was we drew four charges as a team," Strong said.

"We have to get back to the drawing board and get some solutions," he said. "These guys are resilient and tough so I have no doubt we will work hard to get those things done."

SJEL looked to Bear Brewer to lead the Eagles to a 19-4 first-quarter lead and on to the 67-21 win. Brewer and teammate Matthew Deford were team-high scorers with 14 while Jordan McCowen scored nine to lead the Dawgs. McCowen drained a trey in the third quarter for Dayton.

Denver Hutchens was the teams high-point man in the 57-39 win over the Prescott Tigers January 16. Hutchens unleashed a pair of buckets and two treys in the fourth quarter to spart the team's 19 points and the win.
