Columbia County Fire District No. 3 joined units from Garfield County Fire District No. 1 in responding to a report of a barn fire at 410 Emerson Road at 2:43 on Friday, February 16. Upon arrival, a livestock barn at the Robert and Ruth Yutzy place was burning and already on the ground, according to Garfield County Fire Chief James Cleveland. Firefighters remained on the scene to ensure the fire did not spread to other structures. The cause is undetermined, and several livestock were in the building, but the number and disposition of those animals is not known, he said. The Yutzy family lost a barn to fire in March, 2023.
