Bulldog track opens season at Walla Walla

Determination showed on Wyntr McCauley's face as she sprinted the 100m. dash, finish in 31st place with a 17.96 time.

WALLA WALLA–Dayton's Track and Field team competed in the Walla Walla Jamboree to launch the 2024 season March 9. Schools competing included College Place, DeSales, Waitsburg, Kennewick and Walla Walla.

"The early meets are about getting your feet wet (sometimes literally) again," said Head Coach Dan Nechodom, "and for many, the first time. It's about navigating between multiple events, and helping others do the same. It's about watching the technique and habits of more experienced athletes. Our new athletes worked out the jitters and had some great experiences, at times pushing themselves harder than they thought they could go.

Tristan Rennaker took first in the 110m. Intermediate Hurdles with a personal record of 13.66, and sixth in the triple jump with a PR of 31-10.25. Hikaru Iwamoto came in 24th in the 100m. in 13.66 and 14th in the long jump at 16-3.5, both PRs.

Bonnie Anderson finished ninth in the discus with a 51-4 throw, and she was 11th in the 800m. in 3:48.93, both PRs. Wyntr McCauley was 16th in the long jump at 9-5, and 31st in the 100m. at 17.96, also both PRs.
