Wyntr McCauley and Tristan Rennaker receive third and fourth place FFA banners, respectively, for the Extemporaneous Speaking competition event during sub-districts.

DAYTON–FFA members participated at sub-Districts in Pomeroy last weekend where Wyntr McCauley and Tristan Rennaker place third and fourth in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Dayton FFA only has one member, Wyntr McCauley, who has participated in speaking competitions for three years. However, they have also added Sophomore Tristan Rennaker as a competitor this year. These two FFA members traveled to Pomeroy on March 13 to compete at Sub-Districts for Extemporaneous Speaking. Wyntr McCauley brought home the fourth banner of her high school career in FFA speaking events and placed 3rd at Sub-Districts this year. Tristan Rennaker placed 4th. These two will be headed to Asotin to compete at Districts on Thursday, March 21st.

Many events are coming up within the School District before spring break. National Alcohol and Drug Facts Week began on Monday, March 18. Conferences will take place March 20, so no school. Teachers will email parents for conference times during the morning session, 8-11:30 a.m. There will be a round-robin session in the Gym following the morning session from 12:30-3:30 p.m. All parents and students are encouraged to attend the afternoon session. In addition, FASFA is available on campus for anyone still needing help with financial aid.

DHS Golf will also be headed to Milton Freewater at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, there will be a DHS Golf Match in Dayton at 2 p.m. Middle School Band will be going to Gar-pal for the SEWMEA Festival. Saturday, March 23, the DHS Softball team will be headed to Colton to play in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. DHS Baseball will have a doubleheader against Colton at 11 a.m., in Dayton. DHS Track will head to College Place to compete in a track meet starting at 10 a.m.
