Students from Yamate High School, like these in 2019, are expected to arrive Friday afternoon, April 12 to begin their two-week exchange stay with Dayton and Columbia County families.

DAYTON–A busload of Yamate High School exchange students will arrive in Dayton at around 5 p.m. this Friday, April 12 at Dayton High School on 3rd Street.

Upon arrival, students will be introduced to their host families and embark on their experiences during the two-week visitation.

The community is invited to a Cultural Exchange Night from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, at the High School Gymnasium. Attendees will be able to meet and experience cultural demonstrations by the Japanese visitors.

The Dayton-Yamate Exchange has been every three years since 1969 (except for the covid interruption of 2022), and involves a springtime visit to Dayton by the Japanese students followed by a summertime exchange to Japan.
