Spring Spirit Week, Jr./Sr. Prom and arrival of Yamate Exchange Students highlights week at D.H.S.

DAYTON–Junior/Senior Prom; elections; Yamate Exchange Students; and sports are featured this week in April.

The High School (DHS) has just wrapped up its Spring Spirit/Prom Week. Participation or "Spirit Points" were kept track of during the week by the Associated Student Body (ASB). The Senior Class won the most "Spirit Points." The Prom Court included Princesses Laney Crow, Opal Morin, Justina Abrahamson, and Elizabeth Kneff. The Prom Court included Princes Solomon Brenner, Cayle Davis, Cash Eslick, and Luke Winkler. At the dance the 2024 Prom Queen, Opal Morin and King, Cayle Davis were announced. Yamate joined DHS for Prom which was announced on Monday, April 15 in High School Gym at 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Spring sports at DHS are in full swing, with many games, matches, and meets coming up!

On Monday, April 15, DHS Softball will be headed to Colton to take on the Wildcats in a match at 4:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, April 16, DHS Track will be headed to Clarkston for a league meet starting at 3:30 p.m. DHS Golf will also go to Colfax for a match beginning at 1 p.m.

On Wednesday, April 17, DHS Softball will play at home against Gar-Pal at 4 p.m.

On Thursday, April 18, DHS Softball will play at home against Yakima Nation for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. DHS Golf will also be headed to Richland for a match beginning at 1p.m.

On Saturday, April 20, DHS Softball and Baseball will be headed to Pomeroy to play against the Pirates in a doubleheader, starting at 11 a.m. DHS Track will also be headed to Colfax for the MacDougall Invite meet at 10 a.m.

DHS ASB elections are right around the corner! Important dates include: April 8: ASB Officer Declarations available in the High School Office; April 12: ASB Officer Declarations are due in the High School Office by 3:30 p.m.; April 17: Candidate Workshop with Current ASB Officers in Mrs. Reser's room during 7th period; April 22: posters and campaign materials may be distributed; May 3, Speeches are due to Mrs. Reser by 3 p.m., May 8: Speech Run through 5th Period, Speeches 7th period in Auditorium, voting in advisories directly after speeches are finished; May 9: Announcement of 2024-25 ASB Officers during 7th Period

Wednesdays in May, 7th period officer trainings.
