COLTON–The Lady Wildcats handed the second-place Lady Bulldogs a 16-2 defeat Monday, but the ball club showed Gar-Pal their strengths with a 9-4 win on five runs in the top of the seventh, then Jersey Slack pounded two–count 'em–two home runs in the 23-18 nightcap win there April 9.

Dayton has a 3-1 league mark, 6-3 overall, right behind Colton (6-1, 10-1) and firmly ahead of third-place Tekoa-Rosalia (2-2, 4-2), Gar-Pal (1-3, 1-5) and Pomeroy (1-6, 2-10).

The Dawgs head to Pomeroy Saturday for a twin bill.

Colton ten-runned Dayton in five innings this week, grabbing six runs in the first inning and piling on two, five and three runs in the next three innings for the 16-2 win.

"The cold and wind really hurt us," said Head Coach Carly Fabian. We couldn't shake it, mixed with some errors sealed the deal. Some games are just hard and this was one of them."

At Garfield-Palouse, the Lady Bulldogs chipped away, taking a 4-0 lead after three innings before Gar-Pal added three runs in the bottom of the fifth and another in the sixth to tie it. But Dayton rallied with five runs in the seventh then held G-P for the win.

"We battled and held through for the win," Fabian said. "Our outfield has played solid. They are seeing the ball well and holding runners to bases."

Left fielder Jersey Slack whapped two home runs in Dayton's 23-18 win. "Jersey had a monster game at the plate," Fabian said. Hits were flowing; Teagan Culley had a triple and Skyla Johnson had a double, a handful of singles and kept the Bulldogs in the game, Fabian said.
