DHS Sadie Hawkins Dance

DAYTON–The Class of 2022 was tasked with putting on the annual Sadie Hawkins dance. Each year, the sophomores are in charge of organizing and preparing the "Sadies" including choosing the theme which was "Neon Lights". So, students, parents and staff pulled together to make a memorable evening for all who attended.

The dance venue was lit with blacklights and embellished with neon-colored decorations to stand out under the special effect lights. Students were asked to wear white and neon-colored shirts to glow in the light. UV face paint and countless glow sticks were provided to add to the fun of the theme. From the massive amount of neon balloons, the photo backdrop, to the paper stars that dangled from the ceiling, the sophomores dedicated much of their time of two weeks, working together to ensure that every detail of the dance was perfect.

Parents of the class helped them along in the process of their first dance planning experience, along with their experienced school staff members who showed them the ropes. Through lots of poster making and online advertising, the dance had a successful turnout, and a great group of dancers to keep the event alive.

A fair amount of the neighboring Waitsburg students who were invited to join this Dayton event; which was attended well.

After all the decision making, fundraising, and planning that went into the dance, the Sophomores can rest assured that the Sadie Hawkins dance was a success overall.
