DAYTON–Columbia County Public Transportation (CCPT) is striving to maintain service, along with vehicle disinfection, as it copes, along with the rest of Columbia County, with the COVID-19 situation.

“The nation is facing unprecedented and vastly changing circumstances related to the COVID-19 outbreak,” said David Ocampo, CCPT General Manager.

“During these trying times, we are focused on the health and safety of our employees and passengers,” Ocampo said.

Information and guidelines consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization are being closely monitored, and CCPT is implementing proactive processes and procedures, Ocampo pointed out.

“Our vehicles are being disinfected after every trip with high focus on all frequent touch points and high-traffic areas,” he said, “and our staff has been instructed to follow proper hygiene procedures and stay home if they’re not feeling well.”

Commercial-grade disinfectants are being used to clean CCPT vehicles and facilities.

Ocampo urged the public to limit the use of CCPT’s transportation services if a person isn’t feeling well.

“At this point we are not sure how long we will remain open but understand that we will keep you posted through social media and local paper once we no longer can remain open,” Ocampo said. “We understand how critical our services are to many in our community and we will continue to provide you with the best service possible while following all given guidelines. Please be safe out there.”
