Breakfast and lunch meals were delivered to Dayton youngsters displaced from the regular school program by the COVID-19 closure of classes.

DAYTON-Breakfast and lunch were made available for pick up on Monday, March 23, 2020, the first day for the program open to all children 0-18 years old since the school closure on March 18. The program will continue through the spring-break dates and until April 24.

Sack-meals were given to children at several stops around town, at the Dayton Elementary School multi-purpose room and any rural deliveries that may have been requested. Jana Eaton, Food Services Director for Dayton School District said "We served 102 breakfasts today and 105 lunches."

The following day, the number went up to 177 lunches and 176 breakfasts.

According to Eaton, this is through the national program but it is the seamless summer option which allows them to serve anyone 18 and under, even if they aren't a student in the Dayton School District. It's a program the district has used in the past before The Club was established and began serving kids meals.
