COVID-19 Report Columbia County remains with single recovered case

DAYTON–As of press deadline this week, Columbia County has had no new positive coronavirus tests, according to Martha Lanman, Public Health Administrator with the County Health Department.

The single positive case, which occurred early in the pandemic and is reported as “recovered,” remains the only positive in the county to date. There have been no deaths in the county and 51 tests have been returned negative. Two tests are pending, according to the weekly COVID-19 report.

Neighboring Garfield County is the only county in the state without a positive diagnosis.

In Walla Walla County, six positive cases were identified, all linked to employment at Tyson Fresh Meats in Wallula, reports the Walla Walla County Department of Community Health. There are 21 confirmed positives and no deaths in the county with 60,922 residents, according to Johns Hopkins University.

In the state, there have been 544 deaths among the 11,154 confirmed cases for a fatality rate of 4.82%. Some 93,929 have been tested and 1,351 have recovered.

Nationwide, some 614,451 cases have been confirmed and 29,897 have died. Recovered individuals number 49,857.
