When we acknowledge our sins to Him, He truly forgives

November 16, 2023

Even Christians stumble and fall in their relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We must honor God’s promise that when we acknowledge our sins to Him, He truly forgives us. We are promised: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”(1 Jn. 1:9).

We are not honoring His faithful character to forgive us when we keep poking ourselves for something we are ashamed of in our past. We are not honoring His faithful and loving character when we allow our minds to dwell on the criticisms and judgments others make against us for our past. It is gone. We are not honoring His faithful character when we allow the Devil to rub our past in our faces, drowning us in guilt, emptiness, and despair. We are released and purified. The Lord’s faithful character is at stake.

He loves us! He doesn’t charge twice for something that is completely paid for once. Jesus paid for our sins. Our judgment fell on Him on the cross. Our welcome at God’s throne is rich and extravagant. All is taken care of. Jesus cried out on the cross “It is finished!” Our debt is paid in full. Such love is worthy of our complete devotion and repentance. God Bless You.
