Pastor's Corner

We are unable to fully appreciate the magnitude of God's protective, loving care for us. "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness" Ecc. 3:22-23.

The 3-year-old little girl had enjoyed treats from the ice cream truck and had learned to recognize its coming. When she heard its cheerful music, she simply leaped off the top of the porch into midair towards its approach. Her father happened to be seated on the top step. He moved quickly and was able to catch her in midair before she could crash on the concrete below. She enjoyed her ice cream and all ended well, thanks to a watchful and caring Dad.

We have a Heavenly Father who watches over us. We are confident in His loving care and protection. The Bible says "You (Lord) hem me in behind and before, and You lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain" Ps. 139:5-6.

We are "hemmed in" by His love so that He is before us and behind us. We are unable to measure the height, depth, width, and length of His love for us. We are surrounded, enveloped, and inwardly filled with His love. Walking with Him, no matter what happens or what we go through, we are never harmed.

The psalmist so accurately admits that this reality is beyond his ability for him to fully appreciate or "to attain". Such love and care is measureless. How wonderful it is that it was demonstrated on the cross when God's Son, Jesus Christ, died for our sins.
