Donny Thompson piloted the ranch's John Deere 95H combine during the Harvest Bee, organized by Roy Eslick, in August, 1974, that saw friends and neighbors from all over Columbia County converge on the Thompson's fields to harvest the year's crop following the death of Mike Thompson, father of Donny, 15, and Linda Thompson Johnson, who was 17 years old that year. Some 23 combines and 28 trucks swept over the fields, cutting the entire crop in one day.
