What's New at School?

January 30, 2020

DAYTON-The DW Basketball team had an exciting past week. The four teams traveled to Pomeroy on Tuesday, where unfortunately the JV teams and Girls Varsity were unsuccessful. The Varsity Boys team, however, had a game that they will never forget.

The boys put up a good fight through all four quarters of the game, with the Pomeroy boys maintaining a close score all throughout. With ten seconds left on the clock, the Pomeroy Pirates evened the score out with a three-point shot, making the score 40-40. To the audience, it seemed as though an overtime quarter was about to commence, but as the boys moved the ball down the court, with almost no time left, freshman player Monte Pettichord took a bold shot, putting DW in the winning spot, with a score of 40-43. The DW athletes rushed onto the court to celebrate the great win with their beloved boys’ team.

On Friday, the DW girls had their time in the spotlight. At Liberty Christian High School, home of the Patriots, the DW JV girls played their greatest game of the season, winning 34-10 over the Patriot JV girls. The girls Varsity had an exciting success, through a rough first half, and suffering from injuries and fouls, the girls came out on top at 74-56.

With the season’s end, or possible continuation coming soon, this exciting week of success will hopefully spark a new fire for the Dayton-Waitsburg teams and help them through the rest of the season.
