TOUCHET–The Dayton Bulldogs outplayed the Touchet Redhawks here for three quarters, but the difference was the two early touchdowns the Redhawks posted on the scoreboard in the first quarter, the team unable to recoup the deficit in the 47-34 conference loss.

Dayton (2-4) celebrates Homecoming this week and will face SE 1B foe Tekoa-Rosalia (0-6) on the home gridiron Friday, Oct. 20. Kick off at 7 p.m.

"If our boys would've shown up the first eight minutes, the game would've been ours," said Head Coach Lucas Collier. "They fought their hardest, but in that first eight minutes, Touchet got up 16-0 and we finished behind by 16 points."

The Redhawks caught the defensive secondary in a bind, connecting on a couple of deep passes in that first quarter.

Raymond Yutzy scored the team's first touchdown on a deep pass from Jordan McCowen. Other Bulldogs in the scoring column were Denver Hutchens and Caleb Prather, said Collier.

At half time, Dayton made adjustments that shut down their ability to go long, the coach said.

"We threw the ball, we ran the ball, we stopped the ball on defense, we sacked them," Collier noted.

Dayton's offense counted up 421 total yards, 214 through the air and 207 rushing. Touchet gained 377 yards, 190 passing yards and 187 over the ground, indicating how closely matched the teams were.

The Redhawks were more successful on third-down conversions, making five of 11 while the Bulldogs only converted on two of eight.
